Are you looking for ways to make your family’s spring photo session less stressful and more fun for everyone? If so, you’re in the right place! Here at Lori Pickens Photography, I understand how stressful it can be to try to get your kids to cooperate during a photography session. I have some tips that will help the process go smoothly and keep everyone happy. Read on to learn more!
Make sure you plan ahead of time so that you are not rushing around before your photo session. Give yourself plenty of time to get ready, especially if you have young children. Consider having any clothing or accessories picked out ahead of time, and lay them out the night before so that everything is ready to go. You may also want to plan naps and snacks before the session, so the kids show up happy and energized! I love being able to help you prepare through the process. You can send me images of the outfits for opinion and also to help decide on the location! You don’t have to worry about researching poses or any of the session details – I’ll handle the big stuff for you.
When planning your family portrait session, it’s important to choose a location that all members of the family will enjoy. We find that children often do better when they are in familiar surroundings, but sometimes a change of scenery can be great too! Consider choosing a spot near your home or one with a great view – like a nearby park – where everyone can relax and feel comfortable. When you choose me to do your session (in the Parkersburg, WV area) you are getting a lifetime local that knows the perfect spots and hidden gems for your session.
A family picture is about capturing special memories together – not just getting everyone looking perfectly posed in the frame. So don’t worry about making sure every hair is in place or every outfit matches perfectly; instead focus on having fun and enjoying each other’s company during the shoot! Be silly, laugh together, and let our team capture those special moments that make up your unique family story. I am here to help you if you need support on choosing outfits, finding the perfect location(s) in the Parkersburg/Mid-Ohio Valley area. Lucky for you, I know some of the best spots in town to have your family photography session.
At Lori Pickens Photography, I know how important it is for families to capture their memories together in photographs that will last forever. I absolutely loved my time with the beautiful family! Mom’s styling choices were seriously on-point. I love a classic, timeless look.
This was a full session which allowed us to have more time to allow for more time to get all the different family combinations: each individual child with mom and dad, the siblings in different little groups to really capture their personalities and relationships, and even time to sneak in a few of just mom and dad.
When you schedule a mini-session, we can still capture incredible moments but there is not the flexibility for as many poses and images.
I recently had the honor of photographing a family for a beautiful family photography session. With my Nikon z9 in the lead, I utilized two lenses – my 50mm and 70-200mm – to capture some precious family memories. We really were able to make something special here, as I was able to dial it up with a fun slow shutter shot of the overlook we were at, making sure that all settings were perfect (f/3.5 SS 1/40). Little did they know, this slight move would create some truly magical family photos.
