Fireplace mantel

Tonight, we attempted to make a cardboard version of our fireplace mantel. Since our mantel will be custom made by Country Cabinets, we can have it any size or thickness that we want. We are trying to get a good feel for what size will work for the space.

Here is a closer look at our handiwork. The inside will be a dark granite, and the mantel will be painted white to match our trim.
