Recipe #3 – Chicken Cordon Bleu

Uncategorized

You may or may not know, but I made the decision to try 100 new recipes this year. So hopefully that will make for lots of fun food posts.

Tonight I made Kevin and Amanda’s Chicken Cordon Bleu. It was fairly easy to make, and Kevin and Amanda’s writing is pretty funny to read while you’re at it. Here’s an excerpt from the recipe, just so you see what I’m talking about…

“Now at first it will sizzle and freak out and act like it?s going to boil over? But just remember – you are the boss and you are way more stubborn than that butter so just hold your ground and don?t give in? and it will calm down from it?s little temper fit in no time.”

It just sounds like how I would describe it to someone, so maybe that’s why I like it 🙂

They actually turned out really good. I think we all liked them, and I would definitely recommend the recipe.

The recipe also has you make a gravy that you pour over the chicken at the end. I was very proud about how it turned out. Not being a cook, I’m always amazed when things come out the way they are supposed to.

Since most of my kitchen stuff is all packed away at this point, I was cooking out at Mom and Dad’s house. Mom was making some pork chops at the same time, and decided she would make some gravy as well. Here’s a side by side comparison of our gravies. Mines on the left, hers is on the right. If any of you have ever wondered why I can’t cook, this should clear that up for you…

After we made fun of hers for a little bit, she continued to doctor it up, and knowing that this would all eventually end up on my blog, she insisted that I take another picture. Definitely better.
