This is the quilt that I made for my mom. She picked it out and we made it together, but it’s one that is slotted to stay at her house permanently, so I refer to it as “her quilt”. The fabric is Moda’s Cranberry Wishes line and a nine block pattern.
It was made with something called a “jelly roll”. A jelly roll is basically a sampler of all the fabrics in a line. It comes in 40 precut, two and a half inch strips. There are lots of quilt patterns that are created just for jelly rolls, and they are super fast because there is very little cutting required.
We used the extra fabric and strips to piece different borders.
I think it is so neat to see how many different blocks you can come up with using just 2.5 inch strips.
The back is a small green berry print. We had it machine quilted by Red Rooster Quilts. It’s kind of difficult to see from the picture, but it is an all-over leaf and berry pattern to coordinate with the fabric.
