Siding, a shower, and a basement door

Uncategorized

They started putting on the siding today. The *right siding* that is. We like it much better!

They also started putting the stone on the side of the house. I am not a fan of the sillstone edge, but apparently it is required to protect the mortar on the stone. I tried to talk them out of it. Something about termites, water damage, stones falling off, voided warranties, blah, blah, blah. I supposed I’ll eventually get used to it, but I still don’t like it.

Oh, and by the way, that is the wrong siding still. So just ignore it or pretend it is a pretty shaker style 🙂

Rick (our tile guy) also came and started installing our walk-in shower kit. We ended up going with the Kerdi Schutler System. It wasn’t cheap, but it’s seems to be the most widely recommended waterproof kit, and since our shower is on the second floor over finished living space, we wanted a good one. The shower ended up being 6 ft long and just over 4 ft deep. There is a bench on the right and a built in niche for shampoo and soap. There will be a stationary glass panel on the right side and a glass shower door on the left.

They also delivered the glass french doors for the walk-out basement. They will be painted white to match the trim on the house.

They also worked on some of the trim for the front porch.
